How you can unlock Netflix's US contents ?

Ways to unlock Netflix's / Amazon Prime US contents 

After subscribing to Netflix, Prime Video and Hotstar, I hope to get the film on at least one of these streaming services. It turns out, often, this is not the case. While a Google search says that the movie is available on Netflix or Prime Video, access to these titles is not necessary in my Indian accounts. Why? Let me give you a brief lecture.

Why are some movies and shows not available on Indian Netflix or Amazon Prime ? 

 Not sure , You paid attention to this ,  but you'll always find original shows on these platforms in most countries. The original, except for a few exceptional cases, will be available in all countries that streaming service is available.

But it is not for titles that own the Extrasons production house and are licensed for these streaming services. Production houses usually sign lucrative contracts with many broadcasters around the world that give these broadcasters exclusive rights to broadcast the title in their respective countries.

Due to this, global streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video need to comply with these contracts. So, even though Netflix may have rights in 'the office' in the US, it will not be able to give its users the same show in India as Amazon Prime Video believes in India.

While this is one of the reasons why content libraries differ in different countries, pricing may also have a role. Netflix and Prime Video's streaming services' initial prices are more affordable in India than in the US. The cost of licensing that can save these services by not providing libraries extensively may possibly be one of the reasons why these subscriptions are more affordable here.

How do You use Prime Video and Netflix's American content libraries?

Virtual Private Network (VPN). For the uninitiated, VPN essentially lets you connect to another computer on the Internet through a secure tunnel. If you do not want to understand the cause, but only the effect, it is actually equivalent to using the Internet from anywhere in the world.

For example, if you use a Hongkong-based VPN from India, it will make websites and services appear as if you are actually using the Internet from Hongkong and not from India. It basically allows you to access geo-restricted content without actually physically moving it.

While these VPNs are now popular because of reasons, they were primarily used to securely connect business networks together or to access business networks from homes. VPNs, as mentioned above, create a secure tunnel between your computer and a remote server. So, even though your data is intercepted by the website you've visited, it's not difficult to trace the data back to you since you're actually masking your IP address and location.

It turns out, these VPNs are also helpful in circumventing the geo-restrictions imposed by streaming services. It is important to know that not all VPNs provide access to the global catalog of streaming services. So before you go for one, make sure that it actually provides access. While there are a handful of such reliable VPN services

1- Before trying to access geo-restricted content on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, make sure that you have updated your VPN client. In a cat-and-mouse game between streaming services and VPN services, VPN services constantly update servers to ensure that blocked servers do not affect users.

2- Once you make sure your client is updated, you now need to connect to a US server. But it is not necessary that all US-based servers will work. Therefore, it is best to liaise with your VPN provider for recommendations on which server should be used.

3- Netflix's US library is unlocked on both the web and Android when using a VPN, Prime Video only works on the web. If it doesn't work for you on the web, try accessing it from a different browser (Safari, Chrome etc.)

Is it illegal ? What else should I know?

As long as you live in a country (such as China, Russia, UAE, and Iraq), it is not illegal to use a VPN, which does not allow you to use one. And if you are wondering if a VPO is used to access geo-restricted content, it is theft or some other kind of illegal remedy, it is not.

However, for very obvious reasons, streaming services do not promote the use of VPNs. In fact, it is also a part of the 'Terms of Use' of streaming services. This is what Netflix's ToS reads:

Technically, Netflix can terminate your account if you use a VPN to access geo-restricted content. But in practice, this almost never happens and we have yet to see Netflix implemented on a large scale.

Even right now, if Netflix recognizes that you are using a VPN, it will simply throw an 'ing streaming error' and ask you to disable the VPN to use the service again.

Other streaming services are constantly stepping up and taking steps to ensure that VPNs do not allow users to use geo-restricted content. For example, Hulu and HBO Now lock access when your account is registered.

But for now, you can use VPN services to reach the global content portfolios of streaming services like Netflix and Prime Video
