How to install MIUI 12 update in devices receiving MIUI 12 ?

IMPORTANT :

Xiaomi follows only a thin distinction between the "beta stable" update and the "stable" update. The beta static update is intended only for users enrolled within the Mi Pilot beta testing program, which means that builds assigned to this group will not install on devices with Mi accounts that do not have the required permissions.
Once the Mi Pilot beta testers respond positively, the same build then opens as a stable release, causing a lot of confusion - for example, similar builds below may fail to install first, But then they will make an appearance official OTA. If you receive an error message that the update is only for closed beta testers, you can sideload the update via TWRP.

Instructions for MIUI 12

Note that these are common flashing instructions that should generally apply to Xiaomi, Redmi and POCO devices. However, there is a possibility that there is a variation specific to your device, so we strongly recommend visiting your device forum for device-specific instructions.

Recovery ROM Installation for MIUI 12

Recovery ROMs come with a .zip file extension and can be installed through the local update method within MIUI or through Xiaomi Stock Recovery. You can use a custom recovery such as TWRP to install these ROMs, though note that device-specific instructions may differ in that case.

Local update method

1-Transfer the downloaded .zip file to your phone, and make sure that you place the file in the "downloaded" folder on your device's internal storage. If no such folder exists, create one in your internal storage base directory.

2-Within your phone, navigate to Settings> About Phone> System Update, and then press the three-dot icon in the upper-right corner, and select "Choose update package".

Fastboot ROM Installation for MIUI 12

Fastboot ROMs come with a .tgz file extension and require a Windows computer for installation, as well as a phone with an unlocked bootloader. However, despite recovery ROMs being comparatively more complex to install, fastboot ROM is sometimes the only way to boot into a working system.

1-Download the MiFlash tool on your Windows computer. The latest version can be found in step 1 of this link. Once downloaded, remove the tool and install it. It is also advisable to install ADB and Fastboot, just when needed.

2-Reboot your phone into download mode and turn it off by pressing the power and volume down buttons simultaneously.

3-Connect your phone to the computer using the appropriate USB cable.

4-Download the Fastboot ROM .tgz file and extract it. Remember the location of the extract, as you will have to paste the address into the MiFlash tool.

5-Run the MiFlash tool on your Windows computer and paste the extract location from step 4 into the address bar within the tool.

6-Click "Refresh" within MiFlash and the app should automatically detect your device.

7-Click "Run" within MiFlash to flash the ROM file on the device.

8-The progress bar within MiFlash will turn green, indicating that the ROM was successfully installed. Your device should boot automatically in the new version.
